Xavier University Streamlines Tuition Protection with GradGuard

For Robert Fisher, Bursar at Xavier University, partnering with GradGuard has been about turning a confusing administrative process into something simpler, easier, and more cohesive for students and staff alike.

Before GradGuard, the university operated an opt-out tuition insurance process that generated significant confusion. Some students would pay by accident and then ask whether they could get the charge reversed. When Fisher’s operations manager raised the idea of moving the process to opt-in, the timing aligned with an outreach from GradGuard about its services — and the team determined it was a really good fit for the university.

The early results surprised the institution. Enrollment for the initial term came in much higher than expected, even though many on campus had been leery that students would sign up voluntarily rather than as part of a requirement. Several students have since used the tuition claim insurance and received 100% of their claim.

For Fisher, the biggest change has been the administrative side. GradGuard Tuition Insurance has alleviated the burden of the phone calls, messages, questions, and parent engagement that came with the previous process, replacing it with a simpler, clearer experience for students. “We would absolutely recommend GradGuard Tuition Insurance,” Fisher says. “The ease of use for our students, the ease of use for our administrative side has just been beyond what we could imagine for the services provided.”
